INTRODUCING TOPIC FOCUS: A NEW LEVEL OF PERSONALIZATION

Introducing Topic Focus: A New Level of Personalization thumbnail

From the start, Topics has allowed you to practice language with real-world content tailored to your interests. We consider your skill level, the vocabulary you want to learn, and your personal interests to build lessons that genuinely resonate with you.

Today, we’re introducing a major enhancement to this approach: Topic Focus.

What is Topic Focus?

Topic Focus adds another layer of personalization to any topic you pick. Instead of just adapting the topic for you, you’ll get a brief, targeted lesson—your “focus”—that zooms in on a specific part of the language you want to master. Maybe it’s learning how to talk about the future or nailing that expression you’ve been struggling with.

In other words, whenever you pick a topic, Topics also selects a brief lesson handpicked especially for you. Think of it as having a personal tutor who knows exactly what you need at each step of your language journey.

How Does It Work?

1. Pick a topic

Start by choosing any topic from our content library, whether it’s a story, an article, or a news piece.

2. Learn an aspect of a language

Right after you pick your topic, you’ll see a concise lesson tailored to your needs. It could cover a grammar rule, a verb tense, or a specific phrase you want to master—all illustrated with personalized examples to make the concept easy to grasp.

3. Practice with your topic

Finally, you move on to the real content—a story that integrates your newly acquired knowledge. If you chose Leonardo da Vinci, the text will seamlessly incorporate the language elements you just learned. Everything is designed to reinforce your lesson in a meaningful, authentic way.

Why It Matters

With Topic Focus, we’ve taken another step toward delivering a truly adaptive language learning experience. We’re no longer just adapting content to you; we’re also ensuring that each piece of content offers a targeted learning moment. You get to see, practice, and understand language structures or new vocabulary exactly when you need them—all in the context of something you care about.
